Birds: Pine Grosbeaks

This morning I drove around Oswego County looking for Pine Grosbeaks. After almost four hours I finally found a flock of about 13 birds feeding in an ornamental tree. There were four beautiful adult males. My year list is now at 342.

Northwest pics

Noah and I recently played a few gigs in Seattle, Tacoma and Vancouver. Here we are after a refreshing two-hour hike in the rain.
One of my all-time favorite landmarks.
One of my other all-time favorite landmarks.
This is our friend William Watson. In addition to calling the dances and driving us around for five days, he pretty much organized and coordinated the whole trip.
We stayed and played with the very picture of composure Anita Anderson.
A highlight of the trip was taking a tour of the Theo Chocolate Company. Unbelievable stuff! Check out their website for more info on what they do.
On our last afternoon we got to hang out with our good friends Kim and Dan. They are recent transplants to the Northwest from Manlius. Great to see you guys again!
What a beautiful place!

Midwest pics

Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. I'm about one holiday behind these days. Here are some pics from our trip to Indiana a couple weeks ago. I love costume dances!

Recent Activities

Today Jared Caster and I ran up to Sandy Pond where we found an AMERICAN AVOCET that had been reported over the weekend. Also had distant looks at a RED PHALAROPE bringing my 2007 year list to 340! Sarah and I had a pleasently quiet weekend. Worked on getting her garden ready for winter and planted some bulbs. Spent some time in Target getting our registry set up. Watched Perfect Stranger with Halle Berry and Bruce Willis. STUPID, STUPID, STUPID MOVIE!!! Uhgg! Also went to see Steven Curtis Chapman at the Landmark. I'm not a big Steven Curtis fan but I did really enjoy the concert. I loved the opening band. They were called Sanctus Real. Great vocalist. Anyway, Noah and I are now (finally) on MySpace! Here's the link to our page if you're interested. We leave tomorrow for five days in Seattle, Tacoma and Vancouver. I'll post again when we get back.

Birds: Swainson's Hawk movie

This is a movie I took of a Swainson's Hawk in Colorado.
What a cool bird!

Colorado pics

After our weekend in Arkansas and a quick gig in Dallas we got to spend a week in Colorado. One of the first things we did after getting off the plane was drive up Pike's Peak.
We spent some time hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park
Our friend, host, guide, groupie and fellow musician Nancy Maple
Lots of very big rocks
We also got to visit the Pawnee National Grasslands
It was an awesome trip. Before we left Estes Park we went to a neat shop that sold a bunch of animal skins. Check out the polar bear, lion, wolves, cougar, and many others. If you'd like to check out all of my pics from the trip click here.
